IQ Option Group has two legal entities: IQ Option Europe Ltd based in Cyprus, which provides services to EU clients and is regulated by CySec. Binary options are prohibited in the EEA. IQ Option Ltd is headquartered in Seychelles, the company serves non-EU clients and is unregulated. Binary and digital options are currently banned in the EEA, including the UK, by ESMA. As a regulated firm, IQ Options can only offer trades to professional clients. The good news for EU traders however, is that IQ Options has released a new product ‘FX Options’ to try to cover the gap left by binaries. FX options include fixed expirations and limited downsides to binary trading – but also provide scope for higher upside. Read the detailed explanation of FX Options below, or jump to it via the Content Menu above .
Although relatively new to the sector, having been established in 2013, IQ Options has grown rapidly. This growth is due, in part, to offering minimal minimum deposits – making trading accessible to a large number of traders, and ensuring they offer a smooth and enjoyable trading platform. In their words ” the ultimate trading experience “. Strong affiliate partnerships fuel growth at record rates.
CFDs, Forex and Bitcoin
Since its inception, the firm has expanded beyond pure binaries. They now offer traditional forex trading, as well as cfds. They lead the way in cryptocurrencies, offering direct trading access to Bitcoin, Ethereum and others. In addition to these new trading options, they also add risk management features. Tools such as stop loss and take profit have been added to ensure forex and cfd traders have all the advanced features they expect with leveraged products. IQ Option is not a scam. The firm is CySec regulated (and complies with MiFID guidelines) and has started to collect some of the more prestigious accolades in the sector – including ‘ most trusted binary options broker’ ‘ in 2014, from MasterForex-V. The brand continues to grow and innovate and traders will be offered a demo account (practice account) immediately upon registration, with no deposit required.

Trading Platform
Updated v4.0 Platform Review
IQ Options has recently launched the much anticipated v4.0 platform to all traders. It is a stunning visual platform, and sets the gold standard for binary options brokers. The old strength remains – it is a fully configurable platform. Traders can arrange trading windows as they wish – focus on just one, or manage multiple – whatever suits the trader best. Our screenshot depicts the ‘main’ window, with three other assets below it. All can be traded simultaneously. The price chart forms the main part of the trading platform. But on the left side of the trading area are navigation buttons to move to different areas of the website (this can be collapsed when not needed) – and in addition there are some powerful technical analysis features. A new technical analysis tool has been provided, and this is available from the small menu in the lower left corner of the price graph.
- Plot Type
- This option allows traders to modify the graphics to the format they prefer to work with. Options include traditional charts, line and bar charts – in addition to the default area graph. Each can be customized in terms of color and appearance.
- Time Lapse
- This is an added advantage. It is surprising how many brokers ignore the fact that traders may want to expand or collapse the timeframe of the price graph they are viewing. IQ has added a great layer of flexibility for traders to dive into price charts and accurately map any trend.
- Graphics Tools
- A natural progression from allowing charts to be expanded, is to allow traders to make their own interpretations of the charts. Graphical tools allow traders to add trends, or support and resistance lines – these tools can be used however traders wish. This is very important for traders who want to get the timing right – but again, not necessarily something that is provided on other trading platforms.
- Indicators (Technical Analysis)
- Binary options are compatible with technical analysis, and IQ has provided 9 technical analysis techniques that can be overlaid on the price graph. Traders can watch the MACD run below the price as they move, or stack Bollinger bands. Again, each tool is configurable, so the moves can be tweaked to suit the trader. Ever wanted to tweak the ‘smoothing’ ratio on a Stochastic oscillator? with IQ options, you can! In all seriousness, these tools are as powerful as any high end CFD or Forex Broker and IQ has really raised the bar in binary options.
More configurable
IQ has added more configurations to the platform, so traders can set their own color scheme and hide or show menus depending on their preferences. This also extends to the trading window, where IQ has provided a range of preset layouts to make multi-asset trading easier. Expiry field and Amount also has a redesign, with “+” and “-” buttons added so that the expiration time can be pushed back or brought forward and the trade volume can be clicked higher or lower easily – without the need to type in numbers. IQ Options also try and add new features to give traders more flexibility. The Position Enhancement Facility means traders can add funds to a trade to keep it open if it approaches a stop loss. This offers new options in terms of risk management or trading strategy.
Chart
There are tools to modify the time frame of the chart, as well as the type of plot (for example, bar chart or candlesticks etc.). The technical analysis feature is a great addition – traders can add MACD, Bollinger bands or any of the 8 available analysis tools. They are instantly added to the chart and traders can refine their trades as they need. The drawing button allows traders to add hand-only graphics to the chart – so they can add trend lines or resistance and support levels.
Just above the new analysis option is the trader’s sentiment bar. As always, this shows how other traders manage certain assets. Above it is an option to minimize or close the current asset trading window. This chart offers experienced traders the opportunity to perfect the best strategy.
Select Assets
To select an asset, traders can select the drop down arrow at the top of the platform. This will open a new window, where the trader can select the type of option to use and then select the asset category (for example forex or index) and then the specific asset, from eur / usd to Facebook stock. Once selected, the price graph will be updated for the selected market. There are also ‘tabs’ at the top of the trading area where traders can quickly switch to assets or markets they were previously trading. Open positions will also appear as new tabs here – making it super easy. The price graph presents all relevant trading information. The graph itself depicts recent price movements,
End Sizes and Trades
There is a ‘Time’ drop down menu to the right of the graph, and this can be used to amend the expiry time – if changed, the purchase deadline and expiry time will move on the price graph, giving a visual indication. The – / + buttons will move the time to the next used time slot. Also listed on the right are other important figures for trading. Trade amount is just below expiry time – minimum trade value is only £1. Payments for specific assets are then displayed. This confirms the percentage returned in the event of a successful trade. Next comes the Profit indicator, this shows exactly what figure will be returned if the trade is placed – and includes the original investment amount. Finally at the bottom right is the trade button. They are clearly marked, not only with the relevant words, but with arrows to show the direction of the trade as well – and that’s just not enough pairing, when each button is activated, an arrow will appear on the price graph, to show how the price should move so that the trade is completed in profit. Where forex trading cfd is opened, the layout will be different. Additional information such as leverage and stop loss will appear when needed. Traders can also select a ‘take profit’ level to close their trade at the desired price. to show how the price needs to move in order for the trade to complete in profit. Where forex trading cfd is opened, the layout will be different. Additional information such as leverage and stop loss will appear when needed. Traders can also select a ‘take profit’ level to close their trade at the desired price. to show how the price needs to move in order for the trade to complete in profit. Where forex trading cfd is opened, the layout will be different. Additional information such as leverage and stop loss will appear when needed. Traders can also select a ‘take profit’ level to close their trade at the desired price.
Single Click Trading
The trading button on IQ Options is ‘ single click ‘ which maximizes the opportunity for traders to get the price they want. There is no confirmation window or approval delay. Once placed, the trade will be available in the ‘Open position’ window, and a line will also appear on the price graph at the strike price. When the expiration time is reached, a window will appear confirming if the trade was successful or not, and confirming the profit / loss. It is an attractive and attractive trading environment, with enough configurations to satisfy almost any trader. While the emphasis is on looks, the addition of excellent charting and technical analysis tools has raised the bar for the brand – and taken what was already an excellent platform, and made it an industry benchmark.
FX options
FX Options is an innovative new product that delivers the same limited liability as classic options, and the same expiration principal – but also delivers unlimited price-driven pricing. FX options allow traders to go higher or lower on an asset’s price – but they can choose their own strike price. Payout% ranges from -100% (where the trader loses the amount of that single trade) to 2000% or higher where the price moves significantly. As the option is subject to a fixed expiry period, the usual ‘greeks’ apply, and the ‘sell’ value of the option will vary based on the basis and time to expiry. however, this means traders can close (or sell) their options at any time before expiration – either to lock in profits or cut losses. Currently trading is only available with 1-hour expirations, and only on five major currency pairs. This range will be expanded as brokers take shares of traders’ interests.
The screenshot above depicts the FX options trading screen. The red / green bars on the right side depict multiple payouts in one trade. Just to their left is the strike price option for the trader. A change in the strike price changes the payout. They will also vary as the option moves closer to expiration. FX Options offers UK traders the following benefits:
- Unlimited return potential
- Potential losses are limited to the amount invested
- The strike price is adjustable
- Expiration time 1 hour
- Ability to close positions before maturity
In addition, the number of markets that IQ offers with FX Options is growing. Recent markets include commodities (gold, silver and oil) and indices, including the FTSE and S&P 500.
Classic Choice
IQ Options has released a new form of trading, which they call “Classic Options”. This retains some of the fixed risks associated with binaries, but allows for leveraged profits as well. So they are similar to traditional investments, but with stop loss built in. Classic options have no short-term expiration, and can be closed at any time. This makes it closer to “traditional” investments. Currently, IQ only provides classic options on US stock assets. They are definitely a popular feature and therefore evolve with time. Traders can choose a strike price. Each level will change the level of profit and risk of the trade. A user then selects the amount of “contract” they want. The cost will be relative to the strike price, and clearly shown on the Call and Put button. Open trades are viewed from the trade history tab, and can be closed at any time. The current profit and loss on each trade shows the current option status. Overall, classic options look a great option for traders who like to use fundamentals and technical analysis. As mentioned above, they ‘feel’ more like CFDs, but with a built in stop loss to manage risk.
Trader’s choice
The firm continues to add to their list of assets. In addition, they have also expanded their expiration options – mainly from the list of binary options. End of day, end of week and end of month are now also available. This is a big step for brokers who previously only offered short-term trading.
IQ Options will add assets as users demand them. Recently Nintendo’s stock price saw a lot of interest, due to the launch of Pokemon Go. Brokers quickly added Nintendo to their asset list. This reflects a desire to deliver on their customers’ requests. The list of assets on IQ is now very comprehensive.CryptocurrenciesIQ has led the way in making crypto trading available to retail traders. They offer trading on a wide variety of cryptocurrencies, including larger, most traded assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. These assets are available to trade as CFDs, or using traditional Forex models. Non-EU traders can also trade crypto in another way too – using Crypto Multipliers. This is similar to using leverage, so it accelerates profits or losses quickly. There is the Bitcoin x 100 market for example, where the traded price is multiplied by 100 – increasing volatility and potential profit or loss. This market proved so popular that IQ Options has added similar products to other leading cryptos, with various multipliers, from x20,
IQ Choice Mobile App
New iOS version
Apple recently announced changes to the binary market in the Apple store. Option IQ has responded and developed a new app for iOS that meets the new rules. Compatible with iOS 9.0 and higher, this app is built on IQ offerings. Forex and CFD trading are available, and the firm will add cryptocurrency asset trading once it is released on the full website. The speed with which IQ can respond to Apple’s changes is impressive. They are always at the forefront of mobile commerce development. This new offer will be unique within the Apple store until other brands catch up with the new rules.
Android Apps
The mobile app maintains the simplicity of the trading area on the website, and maintains the split second chart that makes binary trading viable. The layout is very clear, and can be customized to meet the needs of individual traders. In addition to the ease of trading, there are also features to maintain account details, including the ability to request withdrawals from the mobile app. The team develops their mobile offering in-house and attention to detail is evident. While some trading apps appear to have been bought ‘off the shelf’ to tick boxes, these brokers have clearly spent some time and effort getting their mobile apps right. The recent update has also taken account feedback from traders using the mobile app, and seems to be another step forward.
Payment
Payments at this broker are a clear strength. The most traded assets see payouts around 85%, with some assets reaching 91%. ( The amount will be credited to the account if the investment is successful). As always, payouts will vary depending on the expiration time and asset selected. Forex and CFD payouts will vary according to the performance of the underlying asset. IQ provides many risk management tools including stop loss and user set leverage amount. Option FX payouts also vary based on the performance of the underlying asset.
Withdrawal and Savings Options
Deposits can be made via credit card (all major cards accepted) as well as wire transfers and online transaction services such as Skrill and Neteller. The minimum deposit is only £ 10 – The initial deposit will determine which account type the trader moves into. Deposit via Paypal is not available and will result in an error. A deposit of £3000 will move the trader into the VIP account type – this offers a range of better benefits, including better returns on certain markets, access to account managers and VIP training materials. Withdrawals are sometimes subject to certain verification processes at IQ Options, including proof of identity. To avoid any disputes, it is best to clarify these requirements before having to make a withdrawal. All verification can then be done before money is requested. Non-verification is the biggest cause of delay. Withdrawals are available through the same payment methods as deposits – i.e. credit and debit cards, and wire transfers. All withdrawals are free. They are also processed on the same day.
Open Trading Network
IQ Option has started launching a cryptocurrency exchange based on their blockchain. It is known as the Open Trading Network (OTN) and is built on the Ethereum blockchain platform. It will be a stand-alone cryptocurrency wallet and exchange designed to meet the growing needs of the market and regulators who will surely oversee operations. Now in the early stages, the wallet and exchange are expected to go live in early 2018. The opportunity for merchants is this; IQ Option does not raise money for this project through the ICO. Instead OTN coins will be given to merchants, wallet users and token holders as an incentive to use the platform and provide liquidity. IQ Option will receive their investment through a portion of the coins held for that purpose. The total number of coins to be issued is 100 million with 42 million going to merchants and wallet users over the next 2 years. Once the platform is live OTN tokens will be traded and can be sold on the open market. It is an interesting development. Analyst tips about this broker are always bullish due to continuous improvement. This blockchain innovation reflects the major disruptive influence IQ is trying to generate across the financial sector.
